Senior Electrical Engineer

We are working exclusively with a leading provider of renewable energy solutions for commercial and industrial clients, specialising in solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects up to 5MW. Based in Melbourne, they design, develop, and deliver cutting-edge energy solutions that reduce carbon footprints and lower energy costs. As they expand their portfolio, we are supporting them in the search for a Senior Electrical Engineer with high voltage (HV) experience to play a key role in designing and delivering high-quality renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the electrical design and engineering of solar PV and battery storage projects up to 5MW
• Provide expertise in high voltage (HV) design, integration, and grid connection for commercial and industrial renewable energy projects
• Oversee the preparation of detailed electrical designs, including single-line diagrams, power system studies, and HV/LV network integration
• Ensure compliance with Australian Standards and Grid Code requirements, including connection agreements with network service providers
• Conduct feasibility studies, electrical calculations, and system modelling to optimize performance and cost-efficiency
• Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and clients to deliver tailored energy solutions
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff
• Liaise with network operators and regulatory bodies to ensure successful grid connections and compliance with HV requirements
• Manage procurement of HV equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and protective devices
• Conduct site visits and assessments, overseeing project implementation, testing, and commissioning
• Identify and resolve technical challenges related to electrical design and installation
• Prepare and submit project documentation, including design reports, as-built drawings, and operation manuals

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred)
• 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus on high voltage (HV) design and grid connections
• Experience in solar PV and battery storage projects, ideally in the commercial and industrial sectors
• In-depth knowledge of Australian electrical standards, grid codes, and HV compliance requirements
• Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, and PowerFactory
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and clients
• Professional registration (RPEQ or CPEng) and HV switching accreditation preferred
• Full working rights in Australia and willingness to travel for site visits as needed
